Carolyn lived in a ranch-style house, with her four children. She had been trying to find a newer, bigger house, and had looked at several different properties. After none seemed to be the right fit, she decided to renovate the property that she lived on already.
She wanted to create a little sanctuary to retreat after a long, busy day of work. She started renovating almost every area of the property. The backyard took priority; Carolyn wanted it to be a relaxing, inviting area. She planned a pool, and decided to lay pavers and install a hot tub. Around the perimeter of the property, she knew she’d need a privacy fence.
A year before, her father had some fence installed by AK Fencing. He recommended us to Carolyn, as he was very pleased with his fence. She called AK Fencing right away, and scheduled a meeting at her property.
Carolyn needed to meet pool code, and wanted maintenance free privacy fence without erecting a huge barrier. After checking some prices, she chose a white 48” Carlisle Semi-Privacy fence. She also ordered two pergolas: an 8’x12’ vinyl pergola with lattice screen to place by the hot tub, and an 8’x16’ pergola she wanted to place outside the basement door to ease the transition from indoor to backyard.
We scheduled the job after the contract was signed, and ordered materials right away. Three weeks later, our crew was out taking down the old post and rail fence.
The job, estimated to take 2-3 days, was fairly straightforward – but there were a few unique challenges. Due to the other renovations happening at the same time, we the crew needed to work with other carpenters and contractors on the site, to ensure efficiency as well as access to working and parking areas. Another problem was the lack of access for a skid loader; we used a Little Beaver hydraulic auger instead, which worked perfectly.
Abram, Rodrigo and Ammon worked efficiently, and the fence was completed in a timely manner. The pergolas were installed after the fence was completed, and they added a very nice accent. The lattice screen on the pergola was a great feature that accomplished exactly what Carolyn wanted.
Now Carolyn had a great backyard retreat her and her family can enjoy for years to come.
